Why work at Bray St: Cain's blog

Cain sitting on a rock amongst mountains

It sounds cliche, but I’ve always wanted to travel the world with my laptop.

To build something for myself under the shade of a palm tree with a Pina Colada in my hand while tanning my pasty cheeks. That’s the dream for most people, I guess.

The problem was, I had no idea how to make that happen.

Lost and found

Let’s go back to life before freelancing.

It’s 2019. I’m a sales and marketing executive for a local business coaching firm. I hated cold calling. And because most of my day consisted of cold calling – I hated my job.

But my job wasn’t all about phone sales. Some days, I’d have to create landing pages for events we were hosting or write posts for social media. I loved this part of my job and I was pretty good at it, too.

Skip past 3 months of late nights, failures and much-needed lessons, and I have my first paying client. Fast forward another 2 weeks and I have 3 more.

I quit my job that week and haven’t looked back since.

A creative outlet

Truth is, I’ve always known I was creative. I just never saw a way to put it to good use.

Copywriting allows me to combine my experience in sales and marketing with my creative skills and intuition, whilst also tapping into my curiosity for human psychology. Win-win-win.

It’s allowed me to work with all kinds of interesting and talented people. From founders of up-and-coming startups to world-class marketing teams for established global players.

For the last year or so, I’ve been doing so from all over Europe. Spending months at a time in Croatia, Greece and soon to be Madeira for Summer 2022.

Hellooo Bray St.

When I first spoke to Danny, I knew I’d enjoy working with him. He believes in freedom and flexibility. In life before work, but working damn hard while you’re on the clock.

As a freelancer, there’s nothing better than working with people who respect you, your time, and your life outside of business. This runs deep at Bray St.
