International Women's Day 2024

International Women’s Day on 8th March is a beacon on the global calendar. It’s more than a date; it’s a celebration of the resilience, achievements and potential of women worldwide. Yet, it also serves as a poignant reminder of the journey we’re still on towards gender equality.

Sparking a revolution in corporate circles

As this year’s International Women’s day draws near, I’m heartened by the rising tide of support within corporate spheres for empowering women in the workplace. It’s a movement that knows no boundaries, embraced by multinational giants and local enterprises alike. Companies are awakening to the transformative power of diversity and inclusion, taking proactive strides to uplift and support women across the organisation.

Building a culture of empowerment

Having spent years in the creative industry, I’ve experienced first-hand the magic that unfolds when women are empowered. Inclusion isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the catalyst for creativity and innovation. When women are at the table, strategy sessions brim with fresh perspectives, ideation meetings are infused with new ideas, and collaboration knows no bounds.

But empowerment goes beyond mere participation; it cultivates a culture where every voice is heard and valued. At its core lies the profound impact it has on individuals. It ignites courage, fosters belief in oneself and inspires others to dream bigger.

Leading the charge

Enterprises such as BAT exemplify this ethos of empowerment. Collaborating with the team at BAT on their International Women’s Day campaign has been nothing short of inspiring. It’s not just about showcasing the remarkable women within the organisation, it’s about championing change and inclusivity in action.

Engaging with the passionate individuals at BAT, hearing their stories and witnessing their commitment to driving inclusivity has been a revelation. Women in BAT (WiB), is a grassroots global network, passionate about diversity, supporting women and championing gender equality for all to reach their full potential and building A Better Tomorrow. It’s a testament to the power of collective action and shared purpose.

Collaborating closely with Btomorrow Ventures, BAT’s corporate venture arm, has been an ongoing source of inspiration. I am continually empowered to amplify my voice through collaboration with their diverse team, particularly the impactful contributions of their female members, as we collectively strive to redefine limits. Witnessing women occupying integral roles across various departments underscores Btomorrow Ventures’ unwavering dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion, a commitment further exemplified by their support of two female-founded ventures within their portfolio.

Beyond International Women’s Day

As we move beyond International Women’s Day, let’s not relegate inclusivity to a mere checkbox. Instead, let’s ask ourselves: “Am I truly fostering inclusivity?” Let’s pledge to continue the journey towards a world where every woman feels empowered, valued and heard.

Together, we can create lasting change, one step at a time.
