Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to complete a week of work experience with Bray St., under the planning and guidance of Founder and Managing Director, Daniel Dagher. This experience was not only insightful but transformative and offered me a first-hand look into the industry and the workings of a professional environment. Here are the top five things that I learnt during my time with Daniel and the team at Bray St.

1. LinkedIn mastery: crafting a standout profile

While it doesn't sound like something you would learn at a decentralised brand agency, getting to grips with LinkedIn helped with my experience.

A key aspect of the marketing industry is research, not only allowing me to understand the process of digital marketing but also helping me to create my LinkedIn profile to equip me for the future.

2. Marketing unleashed: investigating different approaches

On my third day with the company, I had the pleasure of speaking with Hollie, Account Director at Bray St. Thanks to Hollie, I learnt a lot about the different kinds of marketing, such as content marketing, email marketing, business-to-business marketing and many others.

This was very important as it helped me gain a deeper understanding of the marketing industry, which goes beyond fundamental promotion and the basic concepts of advertising.

3. Storytelling secrets: dos and don'ts

I was lucky enough to have a chat with Nicky, freelance Copywriter and Editor for Bray St., who ran me through the process of storytelling and how to do writing tasks.

This has helped me to improve my skills in producing blogs, essays and other tasks that require writing. A great example of my learnings from Nicky is this blog.

4. Graphic design 101: from concept to creation

On Wednesday, I spoke with Chantelle who is one of Bray St.'s freelance Graphic Designers and we discussed the process of graphic design and how she creates her graphics.

This benefits the media course I am taking at school as an assessment task is to create a digital graphic.

5. Brand management Insights: building a strong identity

Throughout the week with Daniel, I obtained an amazing experience and insight into brand management.

Something else that taught me a lot about brand management was attending a live panel discussion on LinkedIn between Daniel, Peter Wozny at Btomorrow Ventures – a Bray St. client – and Syma Mian, Agency Development Lead for Tik Tok. They discussed strategies for influencing a company's trajectory and delved into various aspects of brand management.

Last but not least, a massive thank you to everyone at Bray St. who has put in the effort to organise this week for me and made it a memorable experience.
