Upon arriving at the event, the vibrant atmosphere was immediately palpable. The streets of the capital were awash with a sea of rainbow colors, and the energy of the crowd was infectious.
This year's Pride held special significance for me as I was there supporting Btomorrow Ventures and BAT, companies dedicated to fostering inclusivity and positive change. I partnered with them and led the project from its initial conception through to creative development and rollout. Seeing it come to life was an amazing experience.
The day was packed with a myriad of activities and performances, where floats and marchers, adorned in stunning costumes, danced and sang their way through the capital. The creativity and effort that went into each float were incredible. I may be biassed, but our truck doused in the Progress flag stood loud and proud. Accompanied by DJ Envy, who brought the electric energy, orchestrated the team of 75 through the parade.
There were countless moments that left a lasting impression on me. One I recall vividly, was speaking to some of the BAT team, where they shared what Pride means to them and how BAT are promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion within their organisation, not just by attending Pride events, but how they live this in their day-to-day lives.
The diversity of the attendees was one of the most beautiful aspects of Pride. People from all walks of life came together to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. The sense of unity and acceptance was overwhelming. BAT colleagues also brought members of their families, it was great to see children march alongside us, so they could see first hand what a culture of love, acceptance and inclusivity means.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, the images from Pride 2024 tell a story of joy, resilience, and unity.
As my reflections are shared after Pride, I’m reminded that Pride isn’t just for June. Diversity and inclusion should be a year-round commitment. Pride is still on my mind, and the spirit of the celebration continues to inspire me.
Pride 2024 was a celebration of love, diversity, and acceptance that I'll never forget. It was an honour to stand with BTV and BAT, supporting a future where everyone can live authentically and proudly. I look forward to attending more events and continuing to advocate for inclusivity and equality.
